Alechia Dow began writing princess cat stories back in kindergarten, and has dreamt of being an author ever since. While writing in her spare time, she received her Bachelor’s of Science in Baking & Pastry Arts, and a Master’s in Library Science. She has worked as a pastry chef, food critic, culinary teacher, and a Youth Services librarian—until pursuing writing full time. She and her YA sci-fi novels featuring determined black girls (like herself) are represented by Dr. Uwe Stender of TriadaUS Literary! When not writing, you can find her chasing her wild child, Liv, or her dog, Biscuit, baking something sweet, or taking teeny adventures around Europe.
Here’s a list of her faves:
Books: The Diviners series, The Hate U Give (loved it!), Warcross (all of Marie Lu’s books), Six of Crows (both, and actually let’s just say Leigh Bardugo’s collected works), Boy Meets Girl (Cabot), Boy Meets Boy (Levithan), Last Bite (Nancy Verde Barr, foodie romances= YES), a Hester Browne book when it’s cold outside, and you can find her nose deep in a good cookbook often. And too many pbs to name!
Shows: Great British Bake-Off, Black-ish, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Sense8, Mr. Robot, iZombie, Parks and Recreation, The Good Place, Killing Eve, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Chef’s Table, Luther (oh goodness, Idris!)…. Brit coms: Vicar of Dibley, Black Books…
Films: BLACK PANTHER, Arrival, Get Out, The Girl With All the Gifts, The Holiday, Rogue One, Sense & Sensibility, Pride & Prejudice (don’t judge her, but the Keira Knightley version because of the score) the original three Bourne movies, X-Men, Marvel universe, Star Wars (really goes without saying).
I know I’ve forgotten things. Always feel free to ask and if you want to have a long convo, talk to me about food. Thanks for reading!
